V.O. Tharp age 71 of Concord died Friday January 13, 2012 at his home. He was born December 8, 1940 at Pangburn, Arkansas to Walter and Mary Ellen Reaper Tharp. He was a retired pipeliner, served on the Concord City Council for 18 years, was a farmer and businessman and of the Baptist faith.He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, F.W. Tharp and two sisters, Doris Martin and Dagmar Tharp.Survivors include his wife, Karen Tharp of the home; three daughters, Tammy Rhew and Lynette West both of Concord and Ladonna Costner of Locust Grove; two brothers, Douglas Tharp and Vernon Tharp both of Pangburn; three sisters, Joann Luallen of Forrest City, Alton Stone of Dallas, Texas and Linda Williams of Columbia, Mississippi; six grandchildren, Landon Cornett and Kelsey Cornett both of Concord, Kurt Costner and Dylan Costner both of Locust Grove and Bryce West and Brandon West both of Cave City; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.Funeral services will begin Tuesday January 17, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Concord with Bro. Kenny McDaniel, Bro. John Wofford and Bro.Charles Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Concord Cemetery with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service of Batesville.Visitation will begin Monday January 16, 2012 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.Pallbearers will be Chris Tharp, Greg Tharp, Mike Tharp, Fred Tharp, Phillip Tharp, Keith Tharp, Sammy Martin and Mike Skinner.Honorary pallbearers are C.D. Williams, Ray Warren, T.J. Spinks, Ed Spinks, Carl Coots, Ron Carter, Lannie Martin, Gene Crawford and Jim Cartwright.
