Glenna Mae Oaks Lindsey died in her sleep February 22, 2012 following a difficult recovery from hip surgery. Glenna is now reunited with her husband Adrian, her parents, Bill and Plancie Oaks, and her siblings, Inez, Clevous, and Delbert.Glenna was born in Knob Creek, Arkansas in 1928. She loved school and spent a great deal of her growing up years with her dad for whom she related many fond memories. She developed a love of music and played both guitar and fiddle. She was a hard worker.She married Adrian in 1946 and they lived out their married life in Calico Rock and Batesville. They had three children who survive them: Barbara (Roger) of Batesville and her three children: Chris, Melanie, and Elisabeth; Norma of Little Rock and her two children Emily and Sydney; and Elbert (Stacey) of Batesville and his two children Will and Elley. Glenna had three great grandchildren: Stephen, Shelby, and Miranda. When Adrian was living, the two of them traveled in Arkansas and surrounding states for Adrian to compete in sanctioned Horseshoe pitching tournaments. Adrian won or placed in most of those. Glenna loved music and they attended music festivals in Mountain View and shared their love of music. Her passion for music continued throughout her life; she was a gifted dancer as well.Glenna was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed the world series every year.Glenna was a great cook and always had a bit of something around when anyone happened by.Glenna was a Christian and had a strong relationship with 'the man upstairs' as she often mentioned. In her later years, she was a devoted follower of Joel Osteen. Glenna considered her calling in life to be that of a caregiver. She often described herself as a compassionate person. At the early age of 15, she spent six weeks caring for her dying grandfather and never saw any of her own immediate family that entire time. After she and Adrian were married, they were both devoted to their parents and traveled to be with them often on a weekly basis. Honor thy father and mother was at the top of her list of commandments.Glenna lived a simple and honest life. She will be missed by her family who is thankful for her peaceful passing.Visitation will be from 1:00 until service time at 2:00 on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service Chapel with Bro. David Insell officiating. Burial will follow in the Egner Cemetery located at Salado with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service. Pallbearers include Will Lindsey, Stephen Manley, Dan Lindsey, Merrill Lindsey, L.A. Lindsey, and Paul Rush.
