Charles Curtis Royal, age 79 of Evening Shade died Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at his home. He was born July 28, 1932 at Evening Shade, Arkansas to Joseph Delzo and Verdia Barnett Royal. He was united in marriage to Melba Doris Nason on May 31, 1953 in Beebe and they were blessed with five daughters. He was a member of the Main Street Church of Christ in Evening Shade for over 50 years. He was a strong Christian husband, father, farmer, carpenter and a federal meat inspector in later years.He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Janice Willene Schnyer, a niece, Cheri Renee Schnyer and two nephews, Ricky Schnyer and David Michael Royal.Survivors include his wife Melba Royal of the home, five daughters; Amelia Ann Horn and husband, Dennie of Sidney, Delphia Sue Royal of the home, Deborah Jean Turney of Batesville, Mary Lou Perkey of Cave City and Janice Kay Stephens of Pleasant Plains. Curtis was blessed with 11 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren and has one surviving sister, Sharon Kay Rogers of Jonesboro and two brothers, Malvern Leon Royal and James Ray Royal both of Evening Shade as well as several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.Funeral services will begin Friday, March 2, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Qualls Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City with David Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in the Evening Shade Cemetery located at Evening Shade with arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City. Visitation will be Thursday, March 1, 2012 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.Pallbearers will be Dennie Horn, Sam Horn, Joel Koch, Scott Perkey, Travis Perkey and Shane Cooper.
