Fred N. Canada

Fred N. Canada, age 86 of Batesville, formerly of Ada, Oklahoma died Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at a Batesville hospital. He was born April 5, 1925 at Francis, Oklahoma to Grover Cleveland and Nora Prince Canada. Fred was the youngest of four boys, when the doctor stated another boy his aunt said 'Look again, we wanted a girl.' He attended school at Byng and Francis, Oklahoma and graduated from Francis. He worked as a yard clerk for Frisco Railway at Francis, Ada and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma from 1943 to 1978 and retired after 35 years of service. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from December 1945 until November 1946. He married Jo Helen Large June 19, 1948. He moved from Oklahoma City to Batesville in 1978 where he worked as a security guard for Banquet Food and White Rogers both in Batesville for several years. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, camping and dancing with his wife. He attended the Foothills Cowboy Church north of BatesvilleHe was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, Christopher Shouse and three brothers, Cecil Canada, Herbert Canada and A. B. Canada.Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Jo Canada of the home, one son, Larry Fred Canada of Tulsa, Oklahoma, one daughter, Linda Jo Stingley of Batesville, six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.Funeral services will begin Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 2:00 at the Foothills Cowboy Church located north of Batesville with Bro. Lance Hames officiating. Burial will follow in the Cave Creek Cemetery north west of Batesville with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service.Visitation will be Friday, March 9, 2012 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.Pallbearers will be Jerald Stingley, Cory Stingley, Matt Acklin, Chris Clay, Micah Ball and Dalton Stingley.Honorary pallbearers are Gary Canada, Don Kaiser, Bill Floyd, Burr Harris, Farrell Large, Michael West and all the members of the Foothills Cowboy Church.
