Nelson Ray Kramer, age 82 of Batesville died Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at the White River Medical Center in Batesville. He was born May 6, 1929 in Rosie, Arkansas. He was the son of George L. and Sadie Tucker Kramer.He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, was a long time Batesville resident and had worked for Kramer Wholesale Grocery, Craft Syrup Company and Shelter Insurance. He was a member of Harrison Street Church of Christ. He was a 50 year member and past master of Mt. Zion Lodge #10 and was recipient of the Pillar of Solomon Award. He is survived by his wife of 61 years Joy Kimmer Kramer of the home, a daughter and son-in-law Judy and Jeral Hastings of Cave City, three granddaughters: Holly Hastings Sharp (David) of Cave City, Allison Cooke Wilkes (Byron) of Louisville, Kentucky, and Jennifer Hastings Mendoza (Justin) of Maumelle, one grandson Samuel Nelson Cooke (Lindsey) of Little Rock, three great granddaughters, Charlotte and Lucy Wilkes, and Bethanie Sharp, two great grandsons, Dunkin Wilkes, and Cole Mendoza, three sisters Mildred Arnold and Mary Pankey both of Batesville and Ernestine Franks of California, one brother Don Kramer of Oil Trough and a host of other relatives and friends.He was preceded in death by his daughter, Brenda Kramer Haas, his parents, four sisters and four brothers.Funeral service will be Thursday, May 3, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Harrison Street Church of Christ with Steve Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Kyler Cemetery located at Southside with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 2, 2012 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be his nephews: Tommy Kramer, Max Edwards, David Pankey, Bobby Kramer, Steve Kramer, Bill Kramer, Jim Wyatt, G. L. Kramer, Conway Cook, Jackie Cook, Gene Cook, Dr. George W. Kramer, Johnny Franks, Kenny Kramer and Kelly Kramer.Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Robert Walton, George Bentz, R. L. Sheffield, Norman Harkey, George Stone, Ken Allen, Toby Finister, Cecil Allgood, Jim Crouch and J. B. Milligan and the Men of Harrison Street Church of Christ.
