Shelby Ray Cooper

Shelby Ray Cooper, age 98 of Strawberry, (formerly of St. Louis, Missouri) died Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at the Cave City Nursing Home. He was born August 26, 1913 at Calamine, Arkansas to Walter and Piety Warnick Cooper. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran, a factory worker, an avid reader and of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by, his parents, his wife Dula Louise Watson Cooper, three brothers; Floyd Cooper, Eulas Cooper and Don Cooper and two sisters; Mae Walker and Hattie Erwin. Survivors include, a son, Mark Cooper of Strawberry, two nieces; Norma Finn of Arkansas and Linda Willis of Texas, four nephews; Anderson Erwin Jr. and Vernon Erwin both of Arkansas, James Cooper of Tennessee and Jerry Walker of Missouri, and a host of other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be held Friday, May 18, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ward Cemetery located at Strawberry with Bro. Kennard Ward officiating. Arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City. No visitation is planned.
