Olean Bruce, age 84 of Batesville died Thursday, August 2, 2012 at a Batesville hospital. She was born June 16, 1928 at Cedar Grove, Arkansas to Monroe “Roe” and Mattie James. She taught private piano lessons for forty plus years and was a longtime member of the West Baptist Church where she played the piano for about forty years. She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Linda Ann Bruce, brothers, Homer James, Webb James and Silas James and sister, Lois Leggett. Survivors include her husband of 62 years, W. L. Bruce Sr. of the home, one son W. L. Bruce Jr. and wife Frances of Sherwood, one daughter, Judy Toombs and husband Dan of Maryville, Tennessee, one granddaughter, Jennifer Glasgow and husband Clay of Little Rock, one grandson, David Bruce and wife Elizabeth of Rogers, five great grandchildren, Grace Glasgow, Claire Glasgow and Andrew Glasgow all of Little Rock, Lillie Anne Bruce and Katherine Anne Bruce both of Rogers, many nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral service will begin Monday, August 6, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service Chapel with Bro. W. L. Bruce Jr. and Bro Adam Hughes officiating. Burial will follow in the Oaklawn Cemetery in Batesville with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service. Visitation will be Sunday, August 5, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Clay Glasgow, Dan Toombs, Steve Cuzzort, Danny Russell, Sky Clark and Lavon Huskey. Honorary pallbearers are David Bruce, Dr. Robert Walton, the Ladies of the Sunshine Sunday School Class and the Men of the W.E. “Bill” Campbell Sunday School Class.
