Billy “George” Carter age 64 of Sidney died Tuesday October 2, 2012 at the White River Medical Center in Batesville. He was born August 9, 1948 at Batesville, Arkansas to Billy and Jean Mae Milligan Carter. He was a self employed farmer and logger. He was a well known Cave City watermelon grower. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, former Sidney mayor, former Sidney fire chief, and a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church in Cave City. He was preceded in death by his mother and one brother, Johnny Wayne Carter. Survivors include his wife Pat Carter of the home; one son Brian Carter and his wife Kim of Cave City; two daughters, Brandy Carter of Cave City and Kristi Reed of Prineville, Oregon; three grandchildren, Bricen Carter of Cave City, McKenzie Cross and McKayla Reed both of Prineville, Oregon; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will begin Friday October 5, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Free Will Baptist Church at Cave City with Bro. Bobby Sanders and Bro. Bill Sagely officiating. Burial will follow in the Milligan Campground Cemetery located near Strawberry with arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City. Visitation will begin Thursday October 4, 2012 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the church. Pallbearers will be Travis Bradley, Brett Love, Leroy Brewer, Ronnie Perkey, Bill Goforth, Darrell Sandy, Russell Fowler, Jeral Hastings, Dewayne Girtman and Benny Mynatt. Honorary pallbearers are Brandon West, Brice West, Jonathan Fowler, Matt Bradley, Tyler Asberry, Jared Downing, Jeremy Runyan, John Rhodes, Derek Bell and the Sidney Fire Department.
