Josephine P. Thompson

Josephine P. Thompson age 64 of Floral died Tuesday January 1, 2013 at Batesville. She was born November 10, 1948 at Oliver Springs, Tennessee to Oscar Franklin Matthews Sr. and Latha Pauline Dowdy Matthews. She had worked for Hawmet Turbine Components in Laporte, Indiana and was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Louise Blevins, Patsy Saylor and Helen James. Survivors include her husband, Bearl Thompson of the home; two sons, Terry Thompson of Michigan City, Indiana and Jason Thompson of Floral; three brothers, Charles Matthews of Pocola, Oklahoma, Bill Matthews of Bradford and Oscar Matthews Jr. of Michigan City, Indiana; two sisters, Shirley Beal and Barbara Keim both of Edgemont; three grandchildren, Jesse Thompson of Laporte, Indiana, Katie Thompson and Kristen Thompson both of Michigan City, Indiana; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will begin Friday January 4, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service Chapel in Batesville with Bro. Richard Nuckolls officiating. Burial will follow in the Providence Cemetery located at Providence, south of Pleasant Plains with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service of Batesville. Visitation will be Friday January 4, 2013 from 1 p.m. until service time. Pallbearers will be Frank Gwinn, Wayne Matthews, Steven Matthews, Mark Matthews, John Matthews and Kyle Matthews.
