James L. Evans age 73 of Batesville died Sunday January 27, 2013 at the White River Medical Center in Batesville. He was born August 16, 1939 in Conran, Missouri to Mander and Mary Stubblefield Evans. He resided in Lawrence County Arkansas until 1986 when he moved to Batesville. He was employed at General Oil Co. until his retirement in 2002. He was a member of the Allen Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father, Mander Evans, a brother, Roger Evans; maternal grandparents, Luther and Mary Stubblefield and paternal grandparents, Shirley and Fannie Evans. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, June Evans of the home; his mother, Mary Evans of Walnut Ridge; a daughter and son-in-law, Natalie and Bob Baker; granddaughter, Jessica Jackson; and great granddaughter, Bella Jackson all of Batesville; three brothers, Mack Evans and wife Dian of Jonesboro; Greg Evans and wife Karen of Walnut Ridge and Steve Evans of Jonesboro; one sister, Regina Hayes and husband Gabby of Black Rock; an aunt, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will begin Wednesday January 30, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Allen Chapel Free Will Baptist Church located at Southside with Bro.Tim Campbell and Bro. Tim Landers officiating. Burial will follow in the Oaklawn Cemetery located in Batesville with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service of Batesville. Visitation will begin Tuesday January 29, 2013 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service in Batesville. Pallbearers will be Kevin Evans, Heath Evans, Brandon Evans, Corey Evans, Jace Evans and Larry Upton.
