Scott “Hoss” Westendorf age 34 of Batesville died Saturday May 18, 2013 at his home. He was born May 7, 1979 at Effingham, Illinois to Donald and Karen Bourgeois Westendorf. He was a correctional officer at the McPherson Unit in Newport. He was a member of the White River Chapter of the Law Dogs in Batesville having served as president. He was of the Catholic faith. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Florence and Bernard Westendorf and Jim and Marcella Bourgeois and a granddaughter, Remington Paschal. Survivors include his wife, Misty Westendorf; his parents, Donald and Karen Westendorf of Teutopolis, IL; one son, Marion Smith of North Dakota; two daughters, Samantha Paschal and husband Zach of Batesville and Hayle Smith of Illinois; three brothers, Doug Westendorf, Kurt Westendorf and wife Danielle and Craig Westendorf all of Teutopolis, Illinois; one granddaughter, Raegyn Paschal of Batesville; several nieces and nephews and host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Friday May 24, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Francis Catholic Church in Teutopolis, Illinois. Visitation will be Thursday May 23, 2013 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Johnson’s Funeral Home in Effingham, Illinois. Memorial services will be held in Batesville at a later date.
