A.J. Wolford age 78 of Batesville died Monday May 20, 2013 at the White River Medical Center in Batesville. He was born August 31, 1934 at Mt. Pleasant, Arkansas to Luther and Cora Needham Wolford. He was retired from AT&T in Little Rock and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School where he was noted for his basketball and baseball skills. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Robert Wolford and two sisters, Jessie Wolford Ray and Jeffie Wolford Thompson. Survivors include two brothers, J.P. Wolford and his wife Nancy Alene of Greenbrier and Willie Wolford of Bethalto, Illinois; one sister, Mary Lou Snodgrass and husband Ken of Mims, Florida; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends Funeral services will begin Wednesday May 22, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service Chapel in Batesville with his nephew, Michael Wolford officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery located near Cushman with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service of Batesville. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Honorary pallbearers are his nieces and nephews, Danny Ray, Linda Fleming, Sharon Wolford, Patricia Lyons, Diane Harris, Alan Wolford, Bobby Wolford, Veneda Marshall, Michael Wolford, Marty Thompson, Davey Estes, Kelley Estes, Ronnie Wolford, Beverly Wolford and Kyle Wolford.
