James Handley age 72 of Cherokee Village died Thursday, June 13, 2013 at the White River Medical Center in Batesville. He was born May 3, 1941 at Haleyville, Alabama to Ernest Clifford and Mary Louise Nichols Handley. He was a Church of Christ minister for over 40 years having preached in congregations in Alabama, Indiana, Colorado and Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, E.C. Handley; two sisters, Martha Griggs and Myrtle Stacy and one grandson, Craig Manley. Survivors include his wife, Glenda Handley of the home; four sons, Jamie Handley of Anderson, Alabama, T.J. Woods and Steve Colwell both of Denver Colorado and Ricky Bearden of Pleasant Plains; five daughters, Cindy Black of Tennessee, Dawn Thrasher of Minor Hill, Tennessee, Marsha Perry of Athens, Alabama, Lisa Bearden of Pleasant Plains and Lori Langstrom of Cherokee Village; one brother, Jerry Handley of South Bend, Indiana; fifteen grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Graveside services will begin Sunday, June 16, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Wiles Cemetery located in Ash Flat with Tommy Boles officiating. Arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City. No visitation is planned. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Colby Handley, Justin McCord, Bill Woods, Tyler Swain, A.J. Bearden and Derek Stanfel. Honorary pallbearers are Kris Bearden and Cody Phipps.
