Rosie Marie Smith age 75 of Poughkeepsie died Tuesday August 13, 2013 at Cave City. She was born September 21, 1937 at Iron City, Tennessee to Edney Lee and Robbie Paralee Weaver DeFoe. She was a homemaker, retired from ConAgra Foods in Batesville and attended the Powell’s Chapel United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James W. Smith; three brothers, Howard DeFoe, Junior DeFoe and Billy DeFoe; one sister, Clara Viola Flowers and two great grandsons, Taylor Dell and Carl Ray. Survivors include one son, Rex Smith of Noblesville, Indiana; three daughters, Charline Dell of Indianapolis, Indiana, Gracie King of Batesville and Lawanda Mobley of Poughkeepsie; one brother, Larry DeFoe of Noblesville, Indiana; two sisters, Bernadean Hubbard of Tennessee and Dorothy Craft of Noblesville, Indiana; nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will begin Saturday August 17, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Powell’s Chapel United Methodist Church located near Poughkeepsie with Dr. B. Michael Higginbottom officiating. Burial will follow in the Powell’ s Chapel Cemetery located near Poughkeepsie with arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City. Visitation will be Friday August 16, 2013 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Aaron Mobley, Michael Mobley, Brandon Hugg, Sam Keefer, Leland Smith and Derrick Smith. Honorary pallbearers are Darrel DeFoe, James DeFoe, Wade Flowers, Larry Allen DeFoe and David Lee DeFoe.
