Robert C. “Bob” Burns Sr. age 78 of Pleasant Plains died Sunday, September 1, 2013 at a Batesville hospital. He was born October 15, 1934 at Houston, Texas to Adrian Clark and Maycel Quinn Clark. He was a heavy equipment operator for House and House Construction and George Cavaness Construction both in Batesville, was former owner of Joyce’s Used Furniture in Batesville and Joyce’s RV Sales in Pleasant Plains. He was a U.S. Navy veteran having served in the Korean War, was a Mason for 51 years and was a member of the VFW and the DAV both in Batesville. He enjoyed deer hunting, camping with his wife and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a member of the Flippo Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at Pleasant Plains. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Robert Burns Jr.; one daughter, Nina Landry and two sisters, Jean Ann Bell and Aileen Warren. Survivors include his wife, Mildred P. “Mickey” Burns of the home; five sons, Richard Sellers and wife Connie of Flatonia, Texas, Michael Burns and wife Anita of Van Ormy, Texas, Kenneth Burns and wife Paula of Pleasant Plains; Jimmy McNally of Batesville and Jim Milam and wife Phyllis of Searcy; one daughter, Teresa Hood and husband Mike of Tyronza; one brother, Adrian “Sonny” Clark of Woodlands, Texas; one sister, Linda O’Dell of Cut-N-Shoot, Texas; fourteen grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; his beloved dog, Cindy; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will begin Saturday September 7, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Flippo Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at Pleasant Plains with Bro. Joe Helms officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Plains Cemetery located at Pleasant Plains with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service of Batesville. Visitation will be Friday September 6, 2013 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Robert Warren, Russell Warren, Park Warren,Kendrick O'Dell, Clint McCance and Martin McLeod. Honorary pallbearers are Jim Dunlap, Jane Stager, Joey Hood, Judy Delaney, Jeannie Lory, Brenda Stracener, Alvie and Brenda Van Winkle, Sherrie Borders, Laurie Williamson and Allen Williams.
