Lowell Stroud

Lowell Stroud age 88 of Batesville died Monday September 30, 2013 at Woodlawn Heights in Batesville. He was born May 12, 1925 at Sandtown, Arkansas to Aldrith R. and Ida Horn Stroud. He was retired from the United States Postal Service after serving 29 ½ years at the Batesville Post Office. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII, a member of the American Legion, a 32nd Degree Mason and served as mascot for the Batesville Pioneer Football Team for 9 years. He was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church in Batesville. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Fredia Stroud and one sister, Cowene McDaniel. Survivors include one son, Gary D. Stroud and wife Ellen of Batesville; one daughter, Wanda Pomeroy and husband Bob of Batesville; one brother, Boyce N. Stroud and wife Lavon of Sandtown; four grandsons, Kristopher Lowell Stroud and wife Laura of Mayflower, Jeremy Lessley of Batesville, Jason A. Pomeroy and wife Shannon of Fayetteville and Justin K. Pomeroy and wife Kendra of Hot Springs; six great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will begin Thursday, October 3, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Free Will Baptist Church in Batesville with Bro. Ben Ryan officiating. Burial will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens located at Batesville with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service of Batesville. Visitation will begin Wednesday, October 2, 2013 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service in Batesville. Pallbearers will be Jason A. Pomeroy, Kyler Pomeroy, Kristopher Stroud,Jeremy Lessley, Dave King and Stu Smith. Honorary pallbearers are All Masons, All U.S. Postal Service Employees, Pioneer Football Players, Dr. Verona Brown and Woodlawn Heights Nursing Staff. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Arkansas Children’s Hospital, 1 Children’s Way, Little Rock AR 72202 or St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St.. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105
