Thurman A. Richardson age 90 of Desha died Friday, November 8, 2013 at a Batesville hospital. He was born August 26, 1923 to John C. and Martha Stewart Richardson. He was a U.S. Army veteran, had worked for Keystone Steel and Wire in Bartonville, Illinois and Batesville Manufacturing in Batesville. In more recent years, he drove a van for the Independence County Senior Citizens Center in Batesville. He was a member of the Jamestown Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers, Otha Richardson, Arthur Richardson, Faye Richardson, George Richardson, John Roe Richardson, E.C. Richardson and Joe Dean Richardson and two sisters, Chattie Canady and Bertha Stroud. Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Bertha Mae Richardson of the home; one sister, Verlee Smith of St. Petersburg, Florida; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will begin Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service Chapel in Batesville with Bro. Bill Linenweaver officiating. Burial will follow in the Oaklawn Cemetery located at Batesville with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service of Batesville. Visitation will be Monday, November 11, 2013 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be William Herman, Jason Dunehew, Bobby Dunehew, Phillip Poff, Joe Richardson and John Sherberth. Honorary pallbearers are Terry Long and Danny Richardson.
