Ben J. Harris

Ben J. Harris age 90 of Cave City went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 15, 2013 at his home. He was born July 2, 1923 at Cliquot, Missouri to Ben Lemiel and Margaret Catherine (Rust) Harris. He was a retired U.S. Army veteran of WWII, the Korean War and the Vietnam War and had achieved the rank of 1st Lieutenant. He was also retired from Raytheon Corporation in El Paso, Texas as a senior engineer. At Raytheon he worked on missile systems including the Patriot Missile. He also taught elementary school in El Paso for two years. He was a loving father and grandfather and a very selfless person, always thinking of others. He was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church in Highland and was a very dedicated and knowledgeable Christian. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, William Harris and John Harris; and two sisters, Mae Harris and Geneviave Harris. Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Alexandra Harris of the home; seven sons, Benny Harris, Joe Harris of Hemet, California, Johnny Harris of Batesville, John Harris of Greenbrier, Mark Harris of Cave City, J.J. Harris of Batesville and Joshua Harris of Batesville; six grandsons, Joseph Harris, Elijah Harris, Gideon Harris, Samuel Harris, Isaac Harris and Malachi Harris; three granddaughters, Kayna Wilbur, Cheyanne Harris and Melayne Harris; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will begin Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Qualls Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City with Bro. Mike Stanley and Bro. David Isaacs officiating. Burial will follow in the Cave City Cemetery located at Cave City with arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 17, 2013 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Mark Harris, Joshua Harris, John Harris, J.J. Harris, Ben Karns and Josh Karns. Honorary pallbearers are Shawn Patterson and Shawn Patterson Jr.
