Billy VanWinkle age 69 of Nelsonville died Thursday, December 19, 2013 at his home. He was born January 12, 1944 on the family farm at Nelsonville where he lived his entire life. He was the son of Gaithor and Lessie VanWinkle. He was a farmer and retired from White Rodgers in Batesville. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He enjoyed working with horses, especially trail riding and giving buggy rides to people. He was also a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a member of the Bettis Town Church of Christ located near Center. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Lloyd VanWinkle and three sisters, Lois Stevens, Buhton Simpson and Mildred Cawvey. Survivors include his wife, Wilma VanWinkle of the home; two sons, Bret VanWinkle and Brian VanWinkle both of Nelsonville; two brothers, Bobby VanWinkle of Cave City and W.S. VanWinkle of Noblesville, Indiana; three sisters, Clara Ehman of Marion, Indiana, Francis McCracken of Mountain Home and Bess Ely of Arcadia, Indiana; three grandchildren, Justin VanWinkle, Colton VanWinkle and Morgan Matheny all of Nelsonville; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Memorial services will be held Sunday, December 22, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bettis Town Church of Christ located near Center with Tom Martin officiating. Arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City. No visitation is planned.
