Robert Clark Hopping age 81 of the Hutchinson Mtn. Community died Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at a Little Rock hospital. He was born October 10, 1932 at Washington, Iowa to Clark and Margurette Hopping. He was retired from Growmark Inc. with 38 years of service, having spent 30 years in management and 4 years on the Growmark staff. He was an Ag Advisor for John Wood Community College in Quincy, Illinois, was past treasurer of the Hutchinson Mtn. Cemetery Board, served as vice president of the Southside Water Board and was past chairman of the Hutchinson Mtn. Community Center Board for several years. He was a U.S. Naval Air veteran of the Korean War and was of the Methodist faith. He enjoyed ranching and raising Charolois cattle. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou (Marston) Hopping of the home; two sons, Stephen De Wayne Hopping and his wife Judy of Iowa City, Iowa and Robert Jeffrey Hopping and his wife Carolyn of Batesville; three sisters, Virginia Moore of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, Shirley Conry of Washington, Iowa and Peg Reed of Omaha, Nebraska and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will begin Monday, January 6, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Southside United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Pierce officiating. A private burial will at the Egner Cemetery located at Salado with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service of Batesville. Visitation will be Monday, January 6, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church.
