Samuel Ray Gann age 74 of Poughkeepsie died Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at a Batesville hospital. He was born November 26, 1939 at Diaz, Arkansas to Dale and Catherine Lexie (Morgan) Gann. He was retired from GenCorp Automotive in Batesville with 35 years of service. He was a member of the Curia Masonic Lodge #144 at Cave City, a member of the Hurricane Creek Band and a member of the Bettis Town Church of Christ located at Center. He was preceded in death by his parents; a step-father Coy Morgan, one brother, Danny Joe Morgan and four sisters, Gloria Krokstrom, Gail Ary and two infant sisters. Survivors include his wife, Betty Jean (Byrd) Gann of the home; two daughters, Rebecca Berglund and husband Donald of Vilonia and Elaine Nix and husband Bobby of Poughkeepsie; seven brothers, Jerry Morgan of El Dorado, Tracy Morgan of Poughkeepsie, Melvin Gann, Billy Gann of Wirth, Ed Gann, Jimmy Gann of Wirth and Danny Gann; six sisters, Darlene Wiley of Evening Shade, Lynn Allen, Evelyn Pittman, Debbie Jones, Vickie Whited and Nickie Bird; four grandchildren, Karla Payne of Fayetteville, Casey Howell of Vilonia, Brandi Cooksey of Jonesboro and Stephanie Bray of Poughkeepsie; five great grandchildren, Presley Payne, Brayson Naslund-Howell, Reece Bray, Kiley Bray and Levi Howell; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends Funeral services will be Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bettis Town Church of Christ located at Center with C.C. Baird officiating. Burial will follow in the Buchanan Cemetery with arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City. Visitation will be Friday, January 24, 2014 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Casey Howell, Chris Morgan, Ronnie Goings, Darrell Burcham, Charlie Johnson and Steve Baker. Honorary pallbearers are Hurricane Creek Band Members, Jonathan Payne, Ryan Bray, Brad Davis and Elvis Carver.
