Elsie Freeman Hutchison Shannon age 96 of Batesville died Saturday February 15, 2014 at her home. She was born March 31, 1917 at Jessup, Arkansas to James Wesley and Sarah Bell Wells Freeman. She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, sewing, and cooking. In 2008 she was named Senior Ms. Independence County and was also Woodlawn Nursing Home Queen. She was a member of the Harrison Street Church of Christ in Batesville. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Woodrow Hutchison and O.D. Shannon; one son, Randall Clay Hutchison; two stepsons, Arthur Shannon and Milton Johnson; two brothers, Henry Freeman and Otto Freeman and two sisters, Mae Goff Audet and Addie Brandon. Survivors include five daughters, Ramona Shirley of Cave City, Emma Caples of Rogersville, Missouri, Gypsy Rose Qualls of Batesville, Anna Belle Morris of Mountain Home and Linda Simmons of Batesville; one stepson, Randy Shannon of Plano, Texas; two stepdaughters Julia Grantsyn of Michigan and Rita Shannon; 16 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren; 20 great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends and a host of other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be held Thursday, February 20, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lawrence Memorial Park in Walnut Ridge with Tom German officiating. Arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City. No visitation is planned.
