Nila Marie Truitt

Nila Marie Truitt age 91 of Iola, Kansas died Sunday, March 2, 2014 at the Iola Nursing Center. She was born May 14, 1922 at Poughkeepsie, Arkansas to Houston and Martha (Bearden) Russell. She married J.H. Truitt on March 17, 1945 and they made their home in Arkansas before moving to Kansas in 1952. In 1960 they moved to Iola. She was a nurse’s aid and worked at Allen County Hospital before retiring. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Iola. She was preceded in death by her husband J.H. Truitt on December 8, 2011. Survivors include one son, Gary Truitt of Russell, Kansas; one daughter, Phyllis Truitt of Springdale, Arkansas; one sister, Wanda Arnold of Searcy, Arkansas; three grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be Thursday, March 13, 2014 from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at the Qualls Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City with a graveside service immediately following at the Evening Shade Cemetery with arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
