Dennis Day Shanrock Sr.

Dennis Day Shanrock Sr. age 70 of Evening Shade died Monday, March 17, 2014 at a Batesville hospital. He was born July 8, 1943 at Rochester, Minnesota to Edwin and Pauline (Claude) Shanrock. He was retired from the United States Navy with 23 years of service and was also a retired truck driver. He was a member of VFW Post 8042 at Evening Shade and a member of the First Baptist Church at Evening Shade. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Victoria Whited; one brother, Richard Stanchfield and one sister, Janet Pagel. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Linda Pries Shanrock of the home; two sons, Dennis Shanrock Jr. and Dennis Shanrock III and fiancé, Emily Mathes all of Evening Shade; one daughter, Sherry Ruedy and husband Michael of Winona, Minnesota; two brothers, David Shanrock and wife Terry and John Shanrock and wife Lynn all of Minnesota; a son-in-law, Larry Whited and wife Crystal of Evening Shade; a brother-in-law, Larry Pries and wife Shirley of Evening Shade; four grandchildren, Nichole Ruedy of Minnesota, Christina Whited Jansky and husband Lucas of Desha, Britanny Whited Chavers and husband Adam of Evening Shade and Richard Ruedy of Minnesota; eight great grandchildren, Arianna Weatherly Ruedy of Minnesota, Hunter Chavers of Evening Shade, Lucas Jansky Jr. of Desha, Brylei Chavers of Evening Shade, Jayden Jansky of Desha, Bentley Chavers of Evening Shade, Heaven Chavers of Evening Shade and Nadylee Mathes of Evening Shade; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.Funeral services will be Friday, March 21, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Qualls Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City with Bro. Robert Hutchison officiating. Burial will follow in the Evening Shade Cemetery with arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City. Visitation will be Thursday, March 20, 2014 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Honorary pallbearers are Larry Pries, Larry Whited and Michael Ruedy.
