Bettye Jean Crow Jones age 88 of Batesville died Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at Denison, Texas. She was born February 24, 1926 at Sweet Home, Arkansas to James Wilson and Idelle Tolson Crow. She was a homemaker, a graduate of Arkansas College (now Lyon College) and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Batesville. She enjoyed cooking, playing bridge and singing in the church choir. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William A. “Bill” Jones Jr.and a brother-in-law, Ray Hayworth.Survivors include two sons, Jim Jones and his wife Sandra of Denison, Texas and Chuck Jones of Batesville; one daughter, Brenda Jones and Jeff Perry of Batesville; one sister, Sue Hayworth of Salisbury, North Carolina; four grandchildren, John Jones and fiancé Erin Helwick of Batesville, Erik Jones and wife Ashley of Denison, Texas, Tara Howard and husband Jeremy of Jonesboro and Josh Blevins and wife Mandy of Southside; eight great grandchildren, Bryson Nelson, Emilee Jones, Tyler Jones, Kenlee Cantrell, Morgan Cantrell, Kason Jones, Jaxson Jones and Aiden Howard; one niece, Ellen Hayworth and Charley of Salisbury, North Carolina; one nephew, Wilson Hayworth and wife Hannah of Boone, North Carolina and a host of other relatives and friendFuneral services will be Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service Chapel in Batesville with Dr. Bill Branch officiating. Burial will follow in the Oaklawn Cemetery located at Batesville with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service of Batesville. Visitation will be Saturday, March 22, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Jon Jones, Erik Jones, Josh Blevins, Jeff Perry, Doug Matthews and Larry Whipple.In lieu of flowers the family would like you to consider the Presbyterian Children’s Home and Services, Central Office, 4407 Bee Cave Road, Suite 520, Austin, Texas; Vera Lloyd Presbyterian Children’s Home, Administrative Office, 1501 University, Suite 345, Little Rock, AR or the Independence County Humane Society.
