Thurman B. West

  Thurman B. West age 94 of Batesville died Saturday, April 26, 2014 at a Batesville hospital. He was born September 29, 1919 at Cord, Arkansas to Jim and Lillie Mae (Parr) West. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII ; retired from General Motors in Flint, Michigan; a member of the UAW and of the Christian faith.  He was preceded in death by his parents; two wives, Georgiana Phillips West and Rose Campbell West; two brothers, Oscar West and Billy West and one sister, Juanita West.  Survivors include one son, Larry West and wife Dolores of Sulphur Rock; one brother, Marvin West of Moorefield; one sister, Alma Ward of Batesville; three grandchildren, Angelina West Spiegel and husband Derek of Jonesboro; Katrina West Halpain and husband Danny of Mountain View and Rachelle West of Conway; two great grandchildren, Sonya West of Sulphur Rock and Rosie Grace Spiegel of Jonesboro; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.  Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service Chapel in Batesville with Rev. Jeff Cox officiating. Burial will follow in the Union Cemetery located at Dowdy with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service of Batesville.  Visitation will be Tuesday, April 29, 2014 from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.  Pallbearers will be Derek Spiegel, Pat Thompson, Larry Shaw, Bobby Fudge, Angelina Spiegel and Rachelle West.  Honorary pallbearers are Edgar Shields, Billy Benton, Dr.Greg Neaville and the Coffee Drinkers at Moore’s Dairy Bar at Newark.
