Edith Avanell Saffell age 85 of Saffell went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at the White River Medical Center in Batesville. She was born May 5, 1929 at Saffell, Arkansas to Everett and Edith Godwin. She was married to Billie Saffell on October 10, 1947. She was a homemaker . She loved gardening, flowers and sewing. She was a member of the Mount Harmony Free Will Baptist Church in Saffell for 50 plus years where she served as a Sunday School teacher and church secretary/ treasurer. Avanell was a devoted wife, mother, and granny, who loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren dearly. She will be forever remembered and sorely missed by all who loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband, Billie Saffell of the home; two sons, Wendell Saffell and wife Cathy of Cave City and Ronald Saffell and wife Becky of Saffell; two daughters, Barbara Wood and husband Mickey of Cotter and Pam Kitsmiller and husband Jim of Batesville; eight grandchildren, Shelli Wood and husband Sam of Jonesboro, Brandon Wood and wife Jessica of Jonesboro, Wendee Abbott of Cave City, Sarah Saffell of Saffell, Michelle King and husband Jamie of Cave City, Chris McManners and wife Sheryl of Forrest City, Brian Kitsmiller of Little Rock and Shannon Kitsmiller of Cabot; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Monday, June 9, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mount Harmony Free Will Baptist Church at Saffell with Bro. R.J. Akers officiating. Burial will follow in the Union Cemetery located at Saffell with arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City. Visitation will be Monday, June 9, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church. Pallbearers will be Sam Jones, Brandon Wood, Jamie King, Chris McManners, Brian Kitsmiller, Scotty Johnson, Scottie Huskey and Jimmy Crabtree.
