John L. Ketron

John L. Ketron age 81 of Cave City died Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born March 23, 1933 at Wichita, Kansas to Louis and Dorothy (Miller) Ketron. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a retired truck driver and heavy equipment operator having worked for Fleming Foods and Prairie States Construction both in Wichita, Kansas. He also drove a school bus for the Cave City School District for several years. He was strong in his Christian faith and was a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church in Cave City. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Ronny Lynn Ketron; one daughter, Louise Elizabeth Young and one brother, Albert Ketron. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Bonnie Finley Ketron of the home; one son, Ronny Louis Ketron of Everett Washington; one brother, Louis Lavern Ketron of Wichita, Kansas; four sisters, Lessie Stutzman of Wichita, Kansas, Gloria Root of New York, Ramona Jarman of Washington and Dorothy Shaul of Idaho; five grandchildren, Shane Ketron of Valley Center, Kansas, Toby Young of Norfolk, Nebraska, Melinda Schulz and Jennifer Barnett both of Cave City and Chelsea Bates of Park City, Kansas; ten great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Friday, June 13, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Missionary Baptist Church at Cave City with Bro Ron Canard and Bro. Vance Penn officiating. Burial will follow in the Antioch Cemetery located near Zion with arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.. Visitation will be Thursday, June 12, 2014 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the First Missionary Baptist Church in Cave City. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Schulz, Ronnie Lewallen, Noel Kearnes, Josh Moye, Dale Finley and Randy Reynolds. Honorary pallbearers are L.C. Spurlock, Wade Reynolds, Harvey Doolen and Tilman Williams.
