Ralph E. Avey age 91 of Evening Shade died Monday, June 16, 2014 at his home. He was born April 10, 1923 at Marion Center, Pennsylvania to William and Sarah Wetzel Avey. He was a retired United States Air Force veteran of WWII and a decorated Korean War Vet. He served 23 years and retired as a Captain. He was a member of the Evening Shade VFW Post 8042 and the Evening Shade United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Euna Avey; one brother, John Avey; one grandson, Kaleb Sharp and a stepson, James R. Wolfe. Survivors include his wife Annemarie W. Avey of the home; one son, Reed E. Avey; one daughter, Shelley Davis; and one step-son, John Wolfe all of Evening Shade; eleven grandchildren, Wesley Sharp, Adam Sharp, Haley Sharp Stout, Randy Avey, Melissa Bagwell, Russell Avey, Ryan Avey, Amanda Avey, Matthew Wolfe, Mollie Wolfe and Lori Wolfe; nineteen great grandchildren, William Sharp, Colton Sharp, Bailey Sharp, Caleb Sharp, Ethan Sharp, Jolene Stout, Aiden Wolfe, Tate Bagwell, Issac Bagwell, Sahrin Bagwell, Erica Avey, Will Avey, Saddie Avey, Ryder Avey, Jonathan Dollano, Doug Kapole, Dillian Kapole, Robbie Avey and Mike Avey; and a host of other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be Thursday, June 19, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Williams Cemetery located on Bear Creek Road in Evening Shade with Bro. Larry Weaver officiating. A reception and meal for family and friends will be held at the Faith Assembly of God located on Hwy. 167 in Evening Shade following the service. No visitation is planned. Honorary pallbearers are Meredith “Red” Jaggers, John Smith, Carlton Davis, Wesley Sharp, Adam Sharp, William Sharp, Colton Sharp, Matthew Wolfe, Richard Hebert and Curtis Hollinger.
