Dick V. Ferguson age 90 of Batesville died Monday, June 16, 2014 at a Batesville nursing home. He was born November 30, 1923 at Salem, Arkansas to Garland and Rosa (Carruthers) Ferguson. He was a retired soil scientist for the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Batesville. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII and Korea. He was a member of the Desha Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Ezra Ferguson, Avery Ferguson and Bobby Ferguson; three sisters, Imogene Guess, Lee Marinelle and Neva Mapes. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Snodie Ferguson; one daughter, Carolyn Younger and husband Bill of Mount Pleasant; two sisters, Garlean Williams of California and Areeda Tucker of Texas; two granddaughters, Lauren Conn and husband Rob of Bentonville and Erin Younger of Fayetteville; one great grandson, Quinn Conn of Bentonville; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Thursday, June 19, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service Chapel in Batesville with Tom German officiating. Burial will follow in the Barren Fork Cemetery located at Mount Pleasant with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service of Batesville. Visitation will be Thursday, June 19, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Jessie Reynolds, Bob Younger, Noel Baldridge, Bill Runsick, Collie Shaw and Cole Sample.
