William Halfacre

April 7, 1932 — July 14, 2014

William Halfacre age 82 formerly of Pleasant Grove passed away on July 14, 2014 at the Riverbluff Nursing Home in Rockford, Illinois. He was born April 7, 1932 in Truman, Arkansas to Tony and Mary (Howley) Halfacre. He was a farmer and worked for ConAgra in Batesville. William married his wife Alberta and the were happily married until her death. He enjoyed a good many things but especially enjoyed spending time with the people in his life. He loved his family and his church. He would often be seen laughing and hardly knew a stranger. He was truly a great man that the world will sorely miss. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Alberta Halfacre; one son, Tony Halfacre; two sisters, Judy Hoge and Rosa Williams and one brother, Earl Halfacre. Survivors include one daughter, Susan Hurst of Batesville; two brothers, Hulan Halfacre and wife Pat of St. James, Bill Halfacre and wife Martha of Drasco; three grandchildren, Cindy Everedge, Jessica Smith and Danny Stroud; six great grandchildren, Phillip Butler, Emily Butler, Jesse Jo Butler, Robert Butler, Zabrien Stroud and Alex Stroud; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 18, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service Chapel in Batesville with Bro. Daren Phillips. Burial will follow in the Ford Kelly Cemetery located at St. James with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service of Batesville. Visitation will be Friday, July 18, 2014 from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Carl Stroud, Danny Stroud, Tony Halfacre, Josh Halfacre, Terrance Allen and Jim Scroggins. The family would like to thank his niece Charlene Allen and husband Joseph (Squeak) and the people at Riverbluff Nursing Home for taking care of William in his last days.
