Velma M. Boyd

Velma Boyd age 91 of Glenwood (formerly of Poughkeepsie) passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at a Glenwood nursing home. She was born October 28, 1922 at Alicia, Arkansas to Jim and Pearl Chastain. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ernest Boyd; four brothers, Edward Chastain, Maxie Chastain, Frank Chastain and Sam George Jr. and one grandson, Donald Boyd. Survivors include eight sons, William “Bill” Boyd of Glenwood, Harold Boyd of Cave City, Winston “Denny” Boyd of Poughkeepsie, Bernard Boyd of Smithville, James Boyd of Glenwood, Michael Boyd of Kirby, Royce Boyd of Poughkeepsie and Johnny Boyd of Amity; one brother, D.B. Chastain of Piggott; twenty grandchildren; many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 19, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Qualls Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City with Harold Boyd officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Lebanon Cemetery located near Lynn with arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City. Visitation will be Saturday, July 19, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Stephen Boyd, Joshua Boyd, Frank Boyd, David Boyd, Jonathan Boyd, Kenny Boyd, Billy Boyd and Bobby Rhodes.
