Jesse Columbus Hoggard

Jesse Columbus Hoggard age 86 of Strawberry died Friday, August 8, 2014 at a Cave City nursing home. He was born October 18, 1927 in Cave City, Arkansas to Leo and Zola McCloud Hoggard. He married Maye Mullen on March 9, 1948. They were married 58 years before her death in 2005. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Saffell Missionary Baptist Church. In additon to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by son Jerry Lee Hoggard who died in 2000, an infant son, Tommy Joe Hoggard, and his sister Maxine Guthrie Smith. Survivors include three granddaughters, Lisa and husband Greg Howard and Sandy and husband Joey Howard of Strawberry; and Tracy and Husband Robert Howard of Lynn; seven great-grandchildren, Chelsey Howard, Ashton Alls, Courtney Howard, Kodi Clemons, Emma Howard, Holden Howard and Tinsley Howard; his brothers, Bartis Hoggard of Cave City and Charles D. Hoggard of Calamine; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 11, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Saffell Missionary Baptist Church in Saffell with Bro. Curt Howard, Bro. Keith Wilson and Bro. Paul Sowell officiating. Burial will follow in the Lancaster Cemetery located at Strawberry with arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City. Visitation will be Sunday, August 10, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Qualls Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City. Pallbearers are his nephews: James Hoggard, Paul Hoggard, Jimmy Hoggard, David Hoggard, Ralph Hoggard, Mitchell Hoggard and Kevin Hoggard. Honorary pallbearers are the Nurses and Staff of the Cave City Nursing Home.
