Melverta “Birdie” Holley age 85 of Sidney, died Saturday, October 11, 2014 at her home. She was born July 19, 1929 in Cross County, Arkansas to Elige Thomas and Martha Caroline (Ellis) Holley. She was a homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed doing her crossword puzzles and dipping her snuff. She cleaned homes for a living. She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father Bob Maxwell; three brothers, infant brother, Richard Holley, Lewis Holley and Isaac Holley; one sister, Mary Holley and one nephew, William “Bill” Holley. Survivors include several nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; great –great nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service Chapel in Batesville with Lynn Beck officiating. Burial will follow in the Oaklawn Cemetery located at Batesville with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service of Batesville. Visitation will be Monday, October 13, 2014 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Bobby Armstrong, John Armstrong, Richie Armstrong, Steven Parks, Jeff Hunkins and Howard Abernathy. Honorary pallbearers are William “Lil-Bill” Parks, Landen Parks, Jackson Holley, Jerry Armstrong, Sam Armstrong, Robert Armstrong, Brandon Holley and Allen Williams.
