Glynn Wood

Raymond “Glynn” Wood age 75 of Batesville was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at the White River Medical Center in Batesville. He was born on September 27, 1939 at Floral, Arkansas to Alvis Wood and Evelyn Lucille “Bea” Pitts Wood. He married the love of his life, Winnie “Evelyn” James on July 20, 1957. He was a wonderful family man who was very proud of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enriched many lives and all who knew and loved him will miss him. He was a faithful member of the Vine Street Missionary Baptist Church where he joyfully served as a deacon and music leader. Gospel music and especially southern gospel, brought him great joy. He was also a veteran of the Arkansas National Guard, Company B in Batesville. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years Evelyn Wood of the home; one son, Michael Wood of Huntsville, Alabama; one daughter, Patricia “Patty” Smith of Batesville; four grandchildren, Melissa Needham of Batesville, Brittany Garolla of Asheville, North Carolina, Elaine Wood of Pasadena, Texas and Valerie Wood of College Station, Texas ; two great grandchildren, Tye Needham and Casey Needham both of Batesville; one sister, Peggy Rounds of Batesville; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Vine Street Missionary Baptist Church in Batesville with Bro. Tony Moser officiating. Burial will follow in the Oaklawn Cemetery located at Batesville with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service of Batesville. Visitation will be Saturday, November 1, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Shane Wood, Bobby Wood, Ivan Wood, Bob Rounds, Kacy Marotti, Dalton Wilcox, Mike Smith and Robert Rounds.
