Wilma Cartwright Whiteaker age 100 of Batesville departed this life on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 in Batesville. She was born February 11, 1914 in Optimus, Arkansas. She was the daughter of Hulbert Cartwright and Ada Talbert Cartwright. She worked 27 years in the kitchen at Woodlawn Nursing Home (now Woodlawn Heights) in Batesville where she became the dietician and supervisor. She was an active member of the Allen Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. Her hobby was sewing, she made her own clothes and quilt tops that she gave to family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bernard Whiteaker and three brothers, Eunice Cartwright, Cecil Cartwright and Arlis Cartwright. Survivors include a son, Glenn Whiteaker of Batesville; a daughter, Oval Jean Johnson of Searcy; a sister, Nadine Holley of Searcy; four grandchildren, Randy Whiteaker, Michael Johnson, Stephanie Engdahl and Chad Whiteaker; seven great grandchildren, Emma Whiteaker, Ally Whiteaker, Chase Engdahl, Alex Engdahl, Anna Johnson, Nick Whiteaker and Whiteaker Johnson; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Friday, January 9, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Allen Chapel Free Will Baptist Church with Bro.Tim Landers officiating. Burial will follow in the Egner Cemetery located at Salado with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service of Batesville. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church. Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Randy Whiteaker, Michael Johnson, Tim Holley, Ryan Engdahl, Chad Whiteaker and David Cartwright. Honorary pallbearers are members of Allen Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.
