Hershel Gill

Hershel Gill, age 87 of Cave City, Arkansas passed away January 28, 2015 at his home in Cave City. He was born July 3, 1927 in Fisher, Arkansas to B.A. and Nettie (Mross) Gill. He was a United States Veteran serving five years in the U.S. Army and two years in the U.S. Navy. He retired from General Motors in St. Louis, Missouri in February of 1983. His greatest love was hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends. He was a member of Cave City Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and four brothers. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Freddia Mae (Koettel) Gill of the home; one daughter, Melinda McSpadden (Andy) of Cave City, Arkansas; one son, Gregory Gill (Martha) of Weldon Springs, Missouri. Four grandchildren; Shawn Shaffer (Paige), Cheri Baty (Shane) both of Newport, Arkansas; Jeremy Gill (Mandy) of Troy, Missouri and Lisa Cholley (Chris) of St. Louis, Missouri. Six great grandchildren; Camala and Gracie Jackson, Jasmine and Makayla Shaffer, Brylee Gill and Bryce Foster. One sister; Beatrice Cheshire (A.B.) of Bonnerdale, Arkansas. One brother; Douglas Gill (Nellie) of Jonesboro, Arkansas. Several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Graveside services will be Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Remmel-McCall Cemetery in Remmel, Arkansas located near Newport. Arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City. Visitation will be Friday, January 30, 2015 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Qualls Funeral Home in Cave City.
