Barbara Lea Ritter Carleton passed away Sunday, February 1, 2015 at the White River Medical Center in Batesville. Barbara was born June 17, 1948 in Batesville, Arkansas, to her parents, Wendell Laverne DeLoach Ritter and Eugene Leagon Ritter. She was preceded in death by her mother, Wendell Ritter. She is survived by her father, Eugene Ritter; her daughter, Denise Lea Carleton Hall (Brian), grandsons, Preston and Parker Hall; her son, Nathan Perry Carleton; her brother, Cecil Gene Ritter (Ann); significant other and best friend, C.K. “Harley” Munroe and his sons, Cliff Munroe, Curt Munroe and Cord Munroe; and a host of nieces and nephews. Barbara was a loving and devoted homemaker. As a young adult she received her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Central Arkansas in Conway. She enjoyed working with young children and she loved animals. Her hobbies included writing poetry. She was a 3-time cancer survivor and participated in several on-line support groups, including the Cancer Survivors Network of the American Cancer Society. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 4, 2015 from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service chapel in Batesville. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the Concord Cemetery located at Concord with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service of Batesville.
