Juanita Faye VanHorn age 74 of Batesville died Monday, March 2, 2015 at her home. She was born February 23, 1941 at Murphysboro, Illinois. She had worked as a substitute teacher for the Batesville School District and also had worked several years for the Independence County Sheriff’s Department. She was a member of the Cushman Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Paul VanHorn; one son, Mark Anthony VanHorn and one sister, Barbara Horn. Survivors include two sons, Paul Wayne VanHorn and wife Debbie and Michael Douglas VanHorn and wife Ruby all of Cushman; one daughter, Victoria Turner and husband Brad of Batesville; one brother, Kenneth Barker of Marion, Illinois; one sister, Lona Griswold of Cavin Rock, Illinois; twelve grandchildren; six great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service Chapel in Batesville with Steve Gunther officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery located near Cushman with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service of Batesville. Visitation will be Saturday, March 7, 2015 from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Honorary pallbearers are her great grandsons, granddaughters, grandson-in-laws and a host of nephews.
