Charles “Chuck” Junior Stouder age 86 of Pleasant Plains, Arkansas died Tuesday April 7, 2015 at a Batesville hospital. He was born June 3, 1928 in Elkhart, Indiana to Merle and Bertha Decker Stouder. He and his wife owned and operated Pleasant Plains Hardware since 1976. He was a U.S. army veteran of WWII having enlisted in 1942 and serving as Army of occupation in Japan until 1947. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and a Charter Member of VFW Post 10007 in Pleasant Plains where he served as commander for several years. He helped to organize the Pleasant Plains Volunteer Fire Department and was a member for 35 years. He was a member of the Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church at Pleasant Plains. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother Merle Stouder Jr. and two sisters, Virginia Garbrick and Ruby Duncan. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Verna Pippenger Stouder of the home; one son, Charles W. “Chuckie” Stouder of Elkhart, Indiana; one daughter Sandra Stouder-Balbo of Granger, Indiana; one sister, Mary McCarthy of Elkhart, Indiana one grandson, Courtney R. Collins of Goshen, Indiana; two great grandchildren, Brayden Allen Collins of Goshen, Indiana and Nevaeh Harrison of Elkhart, Indiana; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Friday, April 10, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church at Pleasant Plains with Bro. Daryl Sellers officiating. Arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service of Batesville, Arkansas. Visitation will be Thursday, April 9, 2015 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Graveside services will be Monday, April 13, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the West Goshen Cemetery located at Goshen, Indiana with arrangements by Stemm Lawson Peterson Funeral Home in Elkhart, Indiana.
