John O. Brown

John O. Brown age 89 of Cave City died Sunday, April 26, 2015 at a Batesville hospital. He was born February 15, 1926 at Calamine, Arkansas to T.C. and Essie Hoggard Brown. He was retired from GenCorp Automotive in Batesville and was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. He was a member of Curia Masonic Lodge #144 in Cave City; York Rite Masonic Lodge in Noblesville, Indiana and a Lifetime Member of the VFW. He was a member of First Missionary Baptist Church in Cave City. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Villa Brown; two brothers, Ottie Brown and Owen Brown and one great grandson, Cory Joe Young. Survivors include his wife, Gerene Hodge Brown of the home; one son, Larry W. Brown of Cave City; one step-son, Randy Sumner of Seattle,Washington; one step-daughter, Phyllis Britt of Wenatchee, Washington; two brothers, Buster Brown and Billy K. Brown both of Cave City; three sisters, Berniece Sigman of Noblesville, Indiana, Eunice McLeod and Betty Carter both of Cave City; three grandchildren, Wendy Reynolds, Jonathan Brown and Steven Brown all of Cave City; seven great grandchildren, Cody Matheny, Brody Matheny, Morgan Matheny, Kayla Brown, Brandon Draper, Maddy Jackson and Alyssa Brown; six step grandchildren, Jeremy Shull, Alison Easley, Sean Shull, Tara Armstrong, Justin Hightower, and Shane Hightower; twelve step great grandchildren, Trea Thomas, Logan Easley, Ethan Easley, Emmit Shull, Cowen Shull, Maddux Shull, Chase Armstrong, Carson Armstrong, Cade Armstrong, Matthew Hightower, Mikaela Hightower and Bella Hightower; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Thursday, April 30, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Missionary Baptist Church in Cave City with Bro. Ron Canard and Bro. Bobby Sanders officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Cave City with arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 29, 2015 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the church. Pallbearers will be Gary Curtis, Ben Brown, Michael Higginbottom. Jeremy Matheny, Nathan Higginbottom and Rick King.
