John Henry Ray age 80 of Batesville died Sunday, May 17, 2015 at a Little Rock hospital. He was born April 17, 1935 at Mount Pleasant, Arkansas to Edgar Esco and Zora (Kirks) Ray. He was a business owner; had worked several years for GenCorp Automotive in Batesville and had also been a newspaper carrier for the Batesville Daily Guard for several years. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran and was a member of the West Baptist Church in Batesville. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, L.B. Ray and two sisters, Bernice Ray and M.E. Ray Brooks. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Mary Ann Ray of the home; two sons, John Edgar Ray of Batesville and Rickey Wayne Ray of Magness; five grandchildren, Kayla Ray, Josh Ray, Jena Ray, Zachary Ray and Jolene Heathcoat; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service Chapel in Batesville with Bro. Cory Majors and Bro. Bobby Walker officiating. Burial will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens at Batesville with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service of Batesville. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 19, 2015 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers are Jimmy Hamilton, Bryan Kimmer, Harley Duke, Sky Clark, Mickey Sharp and Denver Huskey. Honorary pallbearers are James Melton, Durwood Elms, Cam Russell and Dr. Jim Lytle.
