Gertrude Chadister

Gertrude Chadister age 88 of Batesville died Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Benton Harbor, Michigan. She was born November 12, 1926 at Osceola, Arkansas to John and Violet Wagster Underwood. She was a retired factory worker and of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Linda Ruth Wadley; one brother, T.J. Underwood; one sister, Jennettia Lee Sansoucie and one step granddaughter, Jacinta Maycock. Survivors include three sons, Thomas Glenn Underwood of Jacksonville, Florida; Harry James Rhyne of Benton Harbor, Michigan and Charles M. Chadister of Batesville; two stepdaughters, Julia Butts and Diane Lawrence both of Walnut Ridge; fifteen grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Friday, May 22, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Alicia Baptist Church located at Alicia with Bro. David Emery officiating. Burial will follow in the Stranger’s Home Cemetery located at Alicia with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service of Batesville. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Pallbearers will be Christopher Wadley, Charles Chadister, Harry Rhyne and Angela Chadister. Honorary pallbearers are Craig Wadley and Thomas Underwood.
