Gale "Gene" Collins

Gale “Gene” Collins age 78 of Sidney died Wednesday June 10, 2015 at a Batesville hospital. He was born August 25, 1936 at Hardy, Arkansas to Luther and Lydia Collins. He was a carpenter and construction worker and a Member of Laborers Local 159. He attended the Sidney Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Terry Joe Collins; four brothers, Arthur Collins, Ira Collins, Lloyd Collins and Charles Collins; two sisters, Cora Lee Jones and Laura Bell Marshall and one grandson, Jordan Lee Winningham. Survivors include his wife, Mary L. Collins of the home; twelve sons, Gale Collins Jr. of Decatur, Illinois, Glenn Collins of Piggott, Martin Collins of Decatur, Illinois, Dennis Smith of Mt. Zion, Illinois, Pat Smith of Pocahontas, David Smith of Pocahontas, Dan Smith of Pocahontas, Tim Collins of Sidney, Gary Lee Jordan of Decatur, Illinois, Robert Collins of Decatur, Illinois, Phillip Jordan of Decatur, Illinois and Brian K. Collins of Sidney; four daughters, Connie Collins of Decatur, Illinois, Jeannie Jansen of Sidney, Margaret Winningham of Sidney and Stephanie Winningham of Decatur, Illinois; two brothers, David Collins of Paragould and Walter Collins of Warrenton, Missouri; one sister, Rosa Collins of Sidney; thirty grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; numerous great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Sunday, June 14, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Qualls Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City with Lennie Finney officiating. Burial will follow in the Collins Cemetery located at Wirth with arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City. Visitation will be Sunday, June 14, 2015 from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Jordan Marshall, Alan Collins, Terry Joe Collins Jr., Phillip Jordan, Colton Slayton and Walter Collins. Honorary pallbearers are Brian K. Collins, Joe Collins and Matt May.
