Max Phillips age 76 of Batesville died Saturday, August 8, 2015 at a Batesville hospital. He was born September 28, 1938 at Dowdy, Arkansas to William Thomas and Hazel Irene (Long) Phillips. He was a farmer, a lifetime member and past board member of the Missouri Fox Trotting Horse Breed Association and a member of Ramsey Heights Baptist Church in Batesville. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Grisham Phillips and Bob Phillips and three sisters, Sue McAfee, Georgianna West and Pat Knight. Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Phillips of the home; one son, Karry Phillips and wife Denise of Calvert, Texas; one daughter, Kathy Phillips Miller and husband Jeff of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; one brother, Gene Phillips of Charleston; two sisters, Geraldine Kaden of Cabot and Van Bazile of West Jefferson, North Carolina; three grandchildren, Brian Phillips of Batesville, Daniel Campbell of Poplar Bluff and Jacob Campbell of Sulphur Rock; five great grandchildren, Hayden Campbell, Dalton Campbell, Anders Campbell, Isabelle Campbell and Riley Phillips; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service Chapel in Batesville with Brian Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in the Union Cemetery located at Dowdy with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service of Batesville. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 11, 2015 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Daniel Campbell, Jacob Campbell, Morgan Ellis, Mark Jenkins, Bob Smith and Mark Williams. Honorary pallbearers are Robert Northcutt and Billy Carlton.
