Carl W. Pinkston age 74 of Batesville died Sunday, August 23, 2015 at a Batesville hospital. He was born November 3, 1940 at Mobley, Arkansas to John Lowry and Ada Elsie “Sally” Andrews Pinkston. He was a retired land surveyor. He was elected as Independence County Land Surveyor from 1975-1982. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Carla D. Flanery; one brother, James Pinkston and one sister, Kay Smith. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Carol Sue Stout Pinkston of the home; one son, Lt. Col. David W. Pinkston and wife Rachel of Fort Hood, Texas; one daughter, Sarah D. Robbins and husband Duell of Rogers; a son-in-law, Yule Flanery of Jonesboro; three brothers, Gene Pinkston of Batesville, Bob Pinkston of Heber Springs and Gary Pinkston of Cave City; two sisters, Caroline Presley of Cave City and Betty Castle of Phoenix, Arizona; six grandchildren, Keaton M. Pinkston, Jina K. Pinkston, Cameron L. Flanery, Aidan T. Flanery, Bodhi D. Robbins and Phoebe R. Robbins; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Oaklawn Cemetery located at Batesville with Joe James officiating. Arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service of Batesville. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 25, 2015 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Yule Flanery, Duell Robbins, Andrew Pinkston, Kirby Pinkston, Tim McKay, Terry Presley and Jake Pinkston.
