Jerry Lynn Elkins age 63 of Batesville passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at a Batesville hospital. He was born February 3, 1952 at Newport, Arkansas to Harold Gene and Madeline Hubbard Elkins. He graduated from Tuckerman High School in 1970 and went on to earn an Educational Specialist Degree from Arkansas State University. He worked as high school principal at the Cave City School District before he retired. He married Teresa James at his parent’s home in Tuckerman, Arkansas on March 6, 1982. He enjoyed his family, working on his house, running, traveling, raising cattle and helping others. He was preceded in death by his parents; maternal grandparents, Charlie and Eula Mae (Horn) Hubbard and paternal grandparents, Wallace and Julia Ann (McAbee) Elkins. Survivors include his loving wife, Teresa and one son, Liam Gene Elkins of the home; three daughters, Tara Dickie and husband Christopher of Bryant, Lana Elkins and partner Casey Felts of Jonesboro and Brooke Elkins of Batesville; one sister, Cheryl (Elkins) Roach and husband Franklin of Jonesboro; two grandchildren, Adelynn Dickie of Bryant and Luke Felts of Jonesboro; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service Chapel in Batesville with Brent Swanson officiating and Jerry Arnold as a guest speaker. The Burial will follow in the Gracelawn Cemetery located at Tuckerman with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service of Batesville. Visitation will be Friday, October 9, 2015 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Scott James, Morgan James-Puckett, Randal Puckett, Logan James-Puckett, James Hobbs, Grant James and Blake James.
