Robert “Pat” Patterson age 86 of Batesville passed away Monday, November 2, 2015. He was born June 11, 1929 at Jamestown, Arkansas, the only son of Cecil and Lottie Baker Patterson. He was a charter member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Batesville. In the 1950’s and 60’s he was an Arkansas State Policeman having worked four years in Independence County. In 1963 together with his loving and faithful wife Ruby, to whom he was married 65 years he opened the Southside Dairy Bar. The business was so successful it became necessary for him to resign from the state police and devote full time to the business. In 1970, he returned to police work and served as Chief Deputy Sherriff for Independence County and the dairy bar was sold. His last years of public work were as a truck driver for the Independence County Road Department, where he took early retirement. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; his parents; a son-in-law, Jake Roath and a great grandson, Garrett Yeager. He is survived by his best friend and loving wife Ruby Patterson; one daughter, Patsy Roath of Pfeiffer; one son Dwayne Patterson and wife Debbie of Moorefield; two grandsons, Robert Eugene Patterson and wife Leslie of Batesville and Brian Yeager and wife Tanya of Batesville; two great granddaughters, Reagen Yeager and Bethanie Sharp; three great grandsons, Robert Ethan Patterson , Braxton Yeager and Zack Groves; one great-great granddaughter, Londyn Elizabeth Yeager. Honoring his request there will be a private graveside service at the Alderbrook Cemetery located at Desha. Arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service of Batesville. No visitation is planned. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. James Harbin, Dr. Srinivasa Vaka,Ronnie Ruminer, Gary Whorrall, Bubba Miller, Tommy Neeley, Andy Yeager and Tom Sellers.
