Viola Fayrene McSpadden, 86 of Batesville died Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at a Batesville hospital. She was born September 5, 1929 at Cave City, Arkansas to Fay and Azel (McLeod) Gobble. She was a retired school teacher with 33 years of service mostly at the Cave City School. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church at Cave City. She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother. Survivors include her husband of 65 years Carthel McSpadden of the home; son, Dan McSpadden of Santa Fe, New Mexico; daughters, Ginger Edington of Reyno, Arkansas and Trudy Peden of Olive Branch, Mississippi; brother Garland Gobble of Arlington, Virginia; grandchildren, Kara Townsend of Corning, Carmen Williams of Morehead, Kentucky, Jake Peden and Ben Peden both of Olive Branch, Mississippi; great grandchildren, Sophia Townsend and Gracie Townsend both of Corning , Finn Williams and Daphne Williams both of Morehead, Kentucky; nephew, Eric Gobble of Morgantown, West Virginia; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Friday, March 18, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Cave City with Rev. Jim Wheeler and Rev. Richard Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in the Cave City Cemetery with arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City. Visitation will be Friday, March 18, 2016 from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church. Pallbearers are Gary Perkey, Jim McSpadden, John Peden, Jake Peden, Ben Peden and Stanley Edington. Honorary pallbearers are Mickey McSpadden, Chris Laman, O.J. Laman and Eric Gobble.
