W. B. “Bill” Obbards, 88 of Brockwell died Sunday, May 15, 2016. He was born December 31, 1927 in Mississippi County to Wilburn and Stella Shoemake Obbards. He was a retired facilities manager; a U.S. Army veteran having served in the occupation of Japan after WWII and a member of the Brockwell Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Ophelia Obbards; brothers, Estes Harland Obbards and Lester Dean Obbards and lifetime friend, Joe Brown. Survivors include his wife, Marie Obbards of the home; son, Steven Obbards of Newport; daughter, Donna Obbards of Olympia, Washington; stepsons, Fred Walker of Brockwell, John Walker of Brockwell and Richard Blevins of Pleasant Plains; stepdaughter, Linda Edwards of Brockwell; brother, Chester Murl Obbards of Reding, California; sister, Margaret Joyce Blakemore of Riverside, California; four grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service Chapel in Batesville. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the New Friendship Cemetery in Paragould. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 17, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. until service time. Honorary pallbearers are Steven Walker, Ryan Walker and Scott Walker.
